PLASTIC SURGERY TRENDS FOR 2023

PLASTIC SURGERY TRENDS FOR 2023

COSMETIC SURGERY TRENDS ACCORDING TO PLASTIC SURGEONS

According to Dr. Greco, this shift in aesthetic preferences is likely due to a desire for a more natural look, as well as increased awareness of the risks associated with certain procedures.

"We're seeing a move away from the extreme, overdone looks that were popular in the past. Patients are looking for more natural results, and they're also more aware of the potential risks associated with certain procedures, like the Brazilian butt lift," he explained.

The Brazilian butt lift, or BBL, has become increasingly popular in recent years, but it is not without risks. The procedure involves transferring fat from other areas of the body to the buttocks, which can result in complications such as infection, bleeding, and even death.

As a result, many plastic surgeons are seeing a shift towards smaller, more subtle enhancements, such as liposuction and breast reductions.

"There's definitely a trend towards smaller, more proportionate body shapes," said Dr. Greco. "People want to look good, but they also want to feel good, and that means avoiding extreme procedures that can be dangerous."

Ultimately, the decision to undergo plastic surgery is a personal one, and it's important to carefully consider the risks and benefits before making a decision. If you're considering plastic surgery, be sure to research your options carefully, and consult with a board-certified plastic surgeon who can help you make an informed decision based on your individual needs and goals.

The pendulum shifts

"There's definitely a trend towards more natural, subtle results," said Ashley Amalfi, MD. "I think people are realizing that they can enhance their natural features without necessarily having to change them completely." This shift towards a more natural aesthetic is not just limited to BBLs and breast augmentations, but is being seen across various procedures, including rhinoplasties, facelifts, and lip fillers."The trend towards more natural-looking results is not limited to just one procedure, it's really across the board," said Greco. "I think we're all starting to realize that you don't have to look like someone else, you can still be beautiful and look like yourself."

The new aesthetic

As the trend towards a more natural aesthetic gains momentum, patients who have previously opted for larger implants are now considering alternatives, according to ASPS President Gregory Greco, DO, FACS. He has noticed an increase in implant removal and a shift towards more natural-looking breasts in his area, with patients considering options such as removing implants, downsizing or combining removal with a breast lift and fat grafting.

What else is trending in Cosmetic Surgery 2023?

It seems like body contouring procedures are trending in 2023, particularly in response to the pandemic as people work to shed post-pandemic weight. This includes liposuction and skin tightening procedures to help tone the body. Additionally, a more natural look is becoming popular, with patients opting for smaller breast implants and more subtle Brazilian butt lifts (BBLs) that still provide curves but in a more understated way.

A different approach to liposuction:
Liposuction is always popular,It seems that patients are looking for more targeted and personalized liposuction procedures to enhance their body contours, even in areas that were not traditionally treated with liposuction before. This approach allows plastic surgeons to create a more tailored and individualized result for each patient, working with their unique body shape and needs.
The trend for more natural-looking results in plastic surgery is becoming more popular, with smaller breast implants and Brazilian butt lifts being sought after. Liposuction is also a popular choice for body contouring, with some patients requesting personalized approaches. Minimally invasive procedures, such as fillers and neurotoxins, are also in demand for facial rejuvenation.
